How Did We Let Democrats Get Leadership? We Wanted Them To.

This is your new President and Commander in Chief. Stop crying about it.
This is your new President and Commander in Chief. Stop crying about it.

To ask how we could let democrats into office is an absurd question. A democrat (Barack Obama in this case) is voted on, just like republicans and no party candidates. Barack Obama was voted into office by showing his real concern for the country and having solid, good ideas to help turn us around in the times ahead.

To base your political beliefs on a party is foolish and to ask how we let someone not of your party into office is even more foolish. Each party -- no, each candidate -- in every race has pros and cons and that is how they are decided. To vote based on your party preference can be going blindly into gunfire, one way or another.

I don't think this hub is up to snuff, but it must be said that every American has a right to choice, party or no.

Your assumption is because the man is not a republican he is not fit for office. That is not what voting is supposed to be about. It is supposed to be about who will lead us in the right direction, and who will treat the country the way it should be treated.

Next time Presidential voting comes around I hope you vote for the person and the policies, not whether they're a donkey or an elephant.

Do you vote based on policies or party?

  • The candidate's policies
  • The candidate's party

I think that idea is crap because the only thing that he said he wanted to do was to change. The only thing he changed when asked what he would change is the subject. He basically told us that he was anti america, that america sucks but i want to be the president. The things that he wants to change are the things that made this country a great country. And mind you democrats are the ones that got this country in such an economic downturn that its in now.

I think coolatta should stop watching FOX news. A little change never hurt anyone especially in times like these. Perhaps you could climb down from your ivory tower for just a moment and take a look around a little place I like to call America. It is precisely because America sucks that Obama wants to be president; You have to be the change you want to see in this world.

Kudos to you Polvati. I posted a response to the original hub and surprise, surprise, she denied my response. Typical reactionary republican upset because I don't believe the same thing she does.

Great article! No, not the best put together but you got your point across.

Now to Cool here. Cool, seriously, I agree with mermania, quit the FOX and start thinking for yourself. You rant that the economy is where democrats got it, but that's a load of B.S. I'm ASSUMING, probably wrongfully, that your discussing what Clinton did during his time in office. I'm sure it had nothing to do with any of the things that BUSH did while he was in office. Nothing at all right? No, no, no. Bush would never do anything like... give government contracted jobs to his buddies' companies. Nope, he would never do that! He would never pour money into outlets like that!

I'm ruining my new years resolution, no more obsessing on what Bush messed up. So Breathe. Ok here we go then.

If you really believe that the economy is going to go to more hell with a Democrat in office, send your tax stimulus check back when it gets here. You wouldn't want any "dirty democrat" money would you?

The way you throw that Change comment around by the way means one thing, your probably one of those racist people that aren't looking at Obama as a democrat but a African American. Bet you were one of those idiots sending out those C.H.A.N.G.E. texts.

EDUCATE YOURSELF!!! IF YOUR ISSUE REALLY IS WITH OBAMA'S SKIN COLOR, LOOK AT IT THIS WAY, IF YOU DONT LIKE THE FACT THAT HE'S BLACK, HE'S ONLY HALF. THINK OF YOURSELF AS LOVING THE QUARTER CAUCASION OR THE QUARTER ASIAN.

Support your contry Cool. Vote with your head and what you learn about the candidate not with what their party is.

Seriously cool, you are a narrow-minded, ill-informed individual. When did Obama ever EVER imply he was Anti-American? From all I've seen he has done nothing but show love and admiration for this country. I would bet that you're one of those people who belives he's a terrorist informant too becase of his middle name (Which, by the way, is a very common name in the Middle East. And as his father was Muslim, I see nothing wrong with it.)

Notice I actually approved your comment, however uninformed it might be. Everyone has their right to an opinion, and I have no right to censor yours. But you honestly need to look outside of the Right Wing Media Box. At least research the man before you slander him. And I hope that God you so tightly latch all your hopes onto will grant you the power to think on your own come next election.

As for Mud Dog and mermania, thank you for your reading my frustration-written hub and your input. It's always nice to see others that feel the same way in this crazy world.

I think FoxNews was pretty middle of the road on the election issues. It just seemed like they were bashing Obama & the Democrats because the other networks just praised them. Fox did it's fair share of slamming on McLame & Palin too.

I did not vote for the man because of his policies and those inline with him. But like you said, he won & we stand behind the man in office. I served in the Military from Regan to Clinton so I know what it means to support my Commander-in-chief, no matter what my feelings are for him.

POLVATI, ANOTHER GREAT HUB. I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU 100% HERE. WHO THE FIG IS THIS COOLATTA?! SERIOUSLY, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO ADVERTISE YOUR IGNORANCE SO BLATANTLY? HE REALLY DOES SOUND LIKE A FOOL. I DON'T THINK HE REALLY PAID ANY ATTENTION TO ANY OF THE DEBATES. OBAMA DID SAY WHAT CHANGES HE WOULD LIKE TO HELP MAKE FOR OUR COUNTRY. I CAN START LISTING A FEW, LIKE OUTSOURCING LESS AMERICAN JOBS THAN HIS BELOVED REPUBLICANS, MAKING A PLAN TO HELP THOSE WHO ARE UNISURED OR UNDERINSURED, TRY TO HELP PEOPLE KEEP THEIR HOMES. JUST TO LIST A FEW. COOLATTA, PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR REAR AND OPEN YOUR EYES. YOUR REPUBLICANS DID ENCOURAGE OUR ECONOMIC SITUATION. AS FOR HIS COMMENT ON ANOTHER HUB, WELFARE ISN'T JUST PEOPLE WHO CHOOSE NOT TO WORK. THERE'S ALSO MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE USED IT TO GET BACK ON THEIR FEET AFTER LOSING THEIR JOBS OR SUSTAINING AN INJURY AND COULDN'T WORK. IGNORANCE IS NOT A VIRTUE AND NEITHER IS BLATANT STUPIDITY. EDUCATE YOURSELF FIRST, TALK SECOND.

Hello Polvati, you are correct we still have elections in this country with a candidate and party that wins. I think when people say how did we allow this to happen begs the question, What happened to the Republicans in this election? Certainly if they had turned out the vote they could have captured the additional 1.5% needed to win the election. So it is more a self examining question than one disputing the legitimacy of the election the way the Democrats tried in both the 2000 and the 2004 elections.

As a conservative I do agree that blind allegance to a party is exactly that, blind. However, even in an election with a weak candidate such as MCain I would still vote Republican. The reason is simple, we don't have a 3rd party conservative  choice. The fact is that even a poor Republican candiate

will do less destruction to our persoanl freedoms than any liberal candidate. Also, we have seen in this new era that crossing the Democratic party in any way is not tolerated by their heirarchy. Let's take Joe Liberman as an example. His personal belief was that we did the right thing going to war in Iraq. However, because he did not get lockstep with the Party and had an idependent thought he was black listed. The Democrats ran an opposition candidate against him in the Democratic Primary, and funded his opposition with DNC money. The big wigs in the party, i.e., John Kerry and crew, even went to a parade in Ct. and marched with the Demoratic candidate against their supposed long time "friend". this was the same guy that had just been their VP candidate in the prior election!

Now he is forced to be an independant.

What good is having Senators or Congressman if they are required to go along with every mantra the Party puts out?

There were Republicans that disagreed with the war, but I didn't see the RNC run candidates against their own.

Based on that kind of ideology I could never vote for a candidate of the DNC. The days of saying , well I disagee with the Deomcrats on this, but this candidate is good is over as long as they require their people to be on borad the DNC train. Besides the fact that any time we have had either a Democratic President or Governor we find their solution to everything is simple----tax the rich, (code word for workers).

I know, I live in MA and we just elected our 1st black governor, from Chicago too, as well as our first Democratic Governor since Mike Dukakis in the 80's.

We just got hit with a 20% increase in sales tax, a 110%!!! increase in alcohol tax, a 50% increase in tobaco tax, a 10% increase in the meals tax,

and a proposal pending to increase the income tax and payroll tax.

Also, our state now gives free cars to welfare reipients along with free insurance, free repairs and free AAA membership, who do you think is paying for all of this?

Nothing like liberalism for working people.

Change you can believe in...

The Shark---taking a bite out of liberalism
